About Bonnie Lee Bouman

Bonnie Lee Bouman is one of South Africa’s top Performance Casting Directors. After graduating from Vancouver Film School (Acting for Film and Television), she returned home to start her own company in 2003 and is renowned for her imaginative and performance-driven casting direction in all visual mediums. She is also a member of the C.S.A (Casting Society of America) and a proud SAGA member.

Bonnie’s vast knowledge of the nuances of the Film and TV allow her to guide the casting process like no other Casting Director in SA. Her bold and direct attitude have taken her from townships to kingdoms (literally) in pursuing the right talent for a film, and in doing so she allows her clients to enjoy the full flavour of South Africa’s talent. She casts in all major cities in South Africa and language is no barrier – Bonnie has an extensive knowledge of accents and ethnicities, which keeps her vigilant to authenticity.

She was nominated in 2007 for the Shoprite Checkers Woman of the Year Award and has proudly served twice as an International Emmy Juror. She was a judge and the acting coach on “Class Act”, a reality TV show searching for “SA’s Leading Man”, and currently has over 600 projects under her belt – from local and international commercials to international TV series and feature films.

Bonnie is an invaluable asset as a Performance Casting Director to the Film Industry in South Africa. Since opening her own studio in 2003, she has continued to apply her knowledge as an actor and integrate these techniques into the casting process.

Actors are encouraged to improvise at times, rehearsals with readers are provided along with expert direction to show the range of the actors by Bonnie and her team.
